Safest workflow

Download existing data
Start from the directory’s export so headers, IDs and current values remain intact.

Keep identifiers unchanged
When updating existing rows, preserve the exported
id. Keep LISS external identifiers exactly aligned with the source system.3
Upload and review
Open the CSV import, choose the file and inspect every parsed row. Correct validation errors in the review table or source file.

Choose the import mode
Select Upsert when existing exported IDs should be updated and new rows added. Select Add new rows only when existing records must remain untouched.

Apply and reconcile counts
Apply the reviewed rows and compare added/updated counts with the intended change.
Learner columns
The learner export/import includes the fields used by the directory, including record ID, name, external ID, year level, priority, funded hours and always-support status.Staff columns
The staff CSV headers are:CSV import does not delete records. Deletion is a separate, explicit directory action.
